Prop 8 Protest in East L.A.

One of the first protests of many in the Los Angeles area today took place at the East Los Angeles Recorder Office on Cesar Chavez Avenue. Around 100 people, who would have preferred to be celebrating, were prepared with Repeal Prop 8 in 2010 signs. They chanted in front of news cameras while a few couples waited in line to get marriage proposals, an exercise in purposeful futility. After being denied, the couples refused to leave saying they would wait until gay marriage is legal in California. Eventually, they left shortly after 3 p.m.

Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension Part 1

The Metro is coming, the Metro is coming! I can't wait for the completion of the Eastside extension. Come summer I'll be able to read while heading straight into downtown. Some eastsiders are against the extension coming to our neighborhood but I am all for it. Here's a sketch of the Indian station.

Gallery ChimMaya

This boutique/gallery is great place to find art, jewelry and accessories. The space is more or less broken into two areas...one area primarily has jewelry from local artisans and Mexico. The other is mostly amazing art with some handcrafted items scattered about. Really cool stuff, great for gifts and home decor. The ladies in the store kinda give you the hawk eye while you shop but overall they are nice enough. They have even been known to throw personal shopping parties with a nice discount for you and your friends.
